Most learners get connected to an English Expert in minutes after tapping the call button. EngVarta is built for instant practice — no booking, no scheduling. Tap call and our system routes you to the next available certified Expert that matches your profile and Conversation Preferences. We maintain a large pool of certified Experts across long batch hours, which is why connections are typically quick.
And on the rare occasion something does delay your call, the system protects your practice time automatically — keep reading for details on how that works.
How to get the fastest connect times
1. Select your Batch
This is the single biggest factor in getting consistently fast connect times. Your Batch is the daily 1-2 hour window during which you get priority routing to Experts.
To select your batch: open the EngVarta app → tap the left menu → tap My Batch → choose the time window that fits your daily schedule.
Note: selecting a Batch isn't a booking — you can still call any time of day. The Batch just tells the system when to give you priority routing.
For more on how batches work — including how to change your batch and what happens if you miss your batch window — see our Why I have to select Batch? and Can I change my batch later? articles.
2. All-day priority plans (limited availability)
EngVarta occasionally offers premium plans that include priority routing across all service hours, not just your selected batch window. These plans typically require a yearly commitment and have limited spots, so they're not always available. If you're interested, watch for them in the Plans screen, or write to care@engvarta.com to ask about current availability.
Our practice-time guarantee
This is one of the things we're proudest of. EngVarta's system is built so your practice time is never lost — even on the rare occasions when a call doesn't connect during your batch window.
Here's how it works:
- If the system fails to connect you during your selected batch — you automatically get high priority for the rest of the day, across all service hours. So even if your batch window had an issue, you can simply call later in the day and you'll be routed faster than usual.
- If you still don't take a session that day (because of work, family, or any reason) — the next morning you wake up to 1 additional day of plan validity, automatically added. No request needed; the system does it for you.
The principle is simple: you paid for sessions, and we make sure you get every minute of practice you're entitled to.
If you're on a weak network
EngVarta is audio-only by design, so sessions hold up on weak Wi-Fi or patchy mobile data better than video-based platforms.
For learners in India, our Phone Channel option provides an additional safety net — your session continues over a regular phone call routed through your telecom operator (with your phone number kept fully private on both sides). Your practice doesn't die because the network did. See our Phone Channel article for details.
Phone Channel is currently available for India-based learners only. International learners use the standard internet-based audio call.
