If no English Expert is free when you tap call, EngVarta creates a callback request for you automatically. The next available TESOL/ESL-certified Expert then calls you back, usually in minutes. There is nothing to book, and you don't need to keep calling again.
How does a callback work?
- You tap Call English Expert and every Expert is busy.
- The app creates a callback request for you and tells you it has been created. You can choose to wait, or cancel the request.
- A Callback in Queue banner shows on your dashboard while the app finds an Expert.
- An Expert takes your request and calls you. In App Call mode, the call rings as a full-screen incoming call from EngVarta Expert.
Sometimes the Expert who takes your request is finishing another session. Then a Callback Accepted banner shows a live countdown until the Expert calls you.
How long will I wait for a callback?
You'll usually get the call in minutes. The wait depends on how many Experts are free at that moment and how busy the app is. Your dashboard shows the current traffic level.
If no Expert can be assigned within the time shown in the app, the request expires. Tap call again to make a new request.

Do I need to book EngVarta sessions in advance?
No. EngVarta has no booking and no scheduling. Tap call whenever you're ready, any time between 7 AM and midnight IST.
A callback is not a booking. The app creates one when no Expert is free at the moment you call. Your batch is not a booking either. It is the daily practice hour you choose in the app, and you can still call outside it.
Does my batch hour change how fast I get a callback?
Yes. Calls and callback requests during your selected batch hour get high priority. Outside your batch hour they get lower priority. When traffic is high, a call outside your batch hour may not be accepted. If that happens, try again later or during your batch hour.

What if my callback isn't served during my batch hour?
If we can't serve your callback during your selected batch hour, the app shows you a message and two things happen automatically:
- You get high priority for the rest of the day, so you can call at any time that day.
- If you still can't complete a session that day, 1 extra day of validity is added to your plan the next morning. You don't need to contact support.
This doesn't apply if an Expert called and you didn't answer, or if your request had low priority (for example, a call outside your batch hour). Read more in Validity extension on callback requests.
How do I make sure I don't miss the callback?
- Keep notifications allowed for EngVarta. If you use Focus or Do Not Disturb, allow EngVarta in it too.
- Don't close the app while you wait. On some Android phones, calls and notifications may not come through when the app is closed. See Why am I not receiving notifications and incoming calls?
- Keep your phone with you.
- In Phone Call mode (India only), the Expert's call comes to your registered mobile number through EngVarta's calling system. It may show a number you don't recognise, so please answer it. Read more about Phone Call mode.
If you miss the call, just tap call again when you're ready.
